I just woke up from this dream:

I was in Post Alley and then I really wanted a sandwich, so I started walking out and down the hill, which turned Waterman St. and after I took a left turn, it turned into a fake street that had this deli with big windows and lots of sunlight. So I went there to order my sandwich, but instead of turkey, which I am thinking a lot about lately, my sandwich was made of Pixies songs. They ran out of Hey, so I asked for another song, which I don't remember, but I'm sure it's not a real one. And between every song slice, was a layer of purple onions. But for some reason the sandwich stopped being made and I ordered cream of mushroom soup and bread. I didn't get to eat any of it.

Anyway, here is something I made over spring break with Alex, and this is his picture that I stole from his blog.

1. Hamburger patty that has onions, bacon, and garlic.
2. Cheeeese that you can't see
3. Avocados
4. Onions
5. More bacon
6. Sandwich bread that we had to cut into circles because I didn't buy hamburger buns

I weighed myself and I have gained 10 pounds at RISD (even though I weighed myself right after I ate dinner) and so I have stopped wearing pants or anything with a non-elastic waist and I do not plan to ever go back since I am eating more than ever at home. The extra weight will keep me warm this winter. Now I am going to get sushi.

Nothing left to live for

I found some food pictures form my last day at home. So those will be up soon plus some food made with everything in Jeremy's fridge. And pie pictures that I stole from Dylan's camera.

I am at RISD now. But I don't have pictures. I did make a good grilled cheese though. You can ask Dylan. He had cheddar and I had jarlsberg, which only sounded more delicious at the time because I saw it used in a grilled cheese in The Devil Wears Prada. Great! School is fine, I don't like being on points, and I miss Trader Joe's, Gyro Delight and my home. Here are some okay pictures of a yam and some berries (maybe) I ate in China. It was delicious.
Spike's is closing this week and I think I am supposed to make bread so maybe there will be R.I. pictures soon.

You can see the yam I picked in the lower right almost corner

Here it is before I ate it. I forgot to take a picture of it peeled.

Are you there, TasteSpotting? It's me, Lily

This is my last post before RISD, which makes me sad and happy, but mostly happy because I think that means I can get Alex/Dylan to help me take good food pictures so I can be on Tastespotting.

There are some good things about living in Mukilteo. LIKE THE ONION BURSTS AT THE LIGHTHOUSE FESTIVAL

TBLT (turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, plus some pesto thing I THINK) from Pallino's

A bad picture of a siamese twin egg(s?)

screen cap of myspace when they were advertising some Wendy's burger. I think Wendy's is gross, but just look at all that bacon...

And a picture of this book, just in case nobody got my Judy Blume reference (and if you didnt, WHERE WERE YOU IN FIFTH GRADE?) which probably totally ruins it but oh well

dear people of the internet

Here is a list of things that I would like people to stop making:

1. T-shirts, notebooks, bags, anything... with telephone wires and birds.

2. Velveeta cheese

3. Confusing internet lingo

4. Overstuffed/exploding burritos that I have to eat with a fork

Also, here is a picture of some Dippin' Dots so I have an excuse for posting non-food related things a food blog. I remember eating this, but I don't remember taking this picture.

P.S. The only reason I made this post is so that I could complain about #1 on my list.

P.P.S Also because I like Dippin' Dots and am starting to feel bad about my P.S.

My previous entry was written in a fit of rage while I was puffy faced and had limited jaw movement. But now I am healed. I didn't even use any of my Vicodin, which I am now offering up for trade for various baked goods.

Anyway, yesterday after an incredibly long food crisis, I/Taylor made the treacherous drive to the Ave so I could get a gyro and greek fries from Aladdin's, which I didn't end up finishing but the point is that it was a sandwich type food that I ate some what successfully.

There was a better picture, but I can't figure out how to rotate it and iPhoto bites.

genius (dedicated to rachel m. birke for no reason in particular)

First, I would like to inform everybody of my new bragging rights: TasteSpotting has now commented on my blog two times. Yes, I know.

Second, Taylor and I have recently discovered our culinary genius and we would like to share it with the world. Our first endeavor: cupcakes (not out of the box, thank you very much)

Somehow we couldn't get our egg whites to form stiff peaks, so we tried with 3 new eggs, but it still didn't work, but we're assuming it doesn't matter because they still tasted good. AND the frosting called for lemon zest, but we used orange instead and we didn't even have that zester or whatever. We/I also burned the chocolate on the first try. After 3 hours of hard work (so what if it should have only taken half the time), magic was born: vanilla cupcakes with orange zest cream cheese frosting and raspberries and chocolate! In conclusion, these were cupcakes that should have gone horribly wrong but turned out so so right.

A new and exciting discovery: cookie pancake sandwiches
So Taylor only had mini-cupcake pans, so we had left over batter, and we decided to make them like cookie pancakes. Then we spread them with frosting, drizzled some chocolate, and filled them with raspberries. One day, we'll learn how to take better pictures so we can be on TasteSpotting.

COMING SOON: DOUBLE DECKER TORTILLA PIZZA

SOS (Save Our Stomachs)

This is a cry for help. It is 2:39 am PST, and I am dying of hunger. I could go downstairs and eat a blueberry bagel, or a cupcake, or a quesadilla, or some eggs, but instead, I spent 30 minutes browsing TasteSpotting for a new desktop background because I am tired of my tiled taco background. GIVE ME YOUR FAVORITE FOOD PICTURES (that don't have that stupid spaceball thing on them).

Update about some cupcakes coming soon.

P.S. I don't like that TasteSpotting only lets you see pages 1-# then you have to click the little arrow to get #-## more. I like the old way where you could clikc page 365 instead of scrolling all the way through. I am actually just writing this in hopes that TasteSpotting sees this, but who am I kidding.

Dear Friends and Family of ieat19meals:

Today is an exciting day because it is day #1 of me attempting to fend for myself. But before we get to the juicy details, I would like to issue a warning about yard raccoons. Do not try and feed them or touch them because they WILL ATTACK/CHASE YOU. They can also bark. Also, I am getting my wisdom teeth out soon. Jamba Juice gift cards are accepted.

Oh, this past Saturday I went to Anacortes and my parents bought 3 lbs of these prawns:

Note the neatly cleaned corn cob.

THEN TODAY, after I had my dentist appointment, I made breakfast for lunch.

Ok, so this picture is not so great, but it was so delicious. Samuel's look of satisfaction (see below) should be proof of this:

In celebration of the return of TasteSpotting:

I have some more food pictures from my trip, but let me digress momentarily and make a confession:

It has been two weeks since my return, and I have not documented anything I've eaten. Then it got me to thinking, what sorts of wonderful things have I been eating? THEN I REALIZED THAT I HAVE HARDLY BEEN PUTTING ANY FOOD INTO MY BODY. I wake up at ungodly hours, sit around my/Taylor/Colin's house/trampoline/deck and eat like two dog food shaped cereal pieces or raspberries and think about the rumblings of my increasingly dissatisfied stomach. Realizing that haven't eaten all day, I make myself some eggs or a quesadilla (cheese), which holds me off for like two hours, but in that two hour time period my mom makes dinner, which I can barely eat because I've just eaten some worthless food. So when 8 or 9 rolls around and I'm hungry again, I eat Taylor's chewy bars and fruit leather or Elyssa's popcorn, but most often, WheatThins and cheese and strawberries, all the while thinking about how terrible my food life is going to be once I leave college because there will be no cafeteria/mom/Fjeran residence pantry to depend on. This has been my diet for nearly two weeks and I HAVE HAD ENOUGH. NO MORE CRACKERS AND CHEESE. NO MORE AIR FOR BREAKFAST AND LUNCH. I DEMAND A MORE SUBSTANTIAL AND DELICIOUS MEAL. Unfortunately, I can't cook and I have no idea how to make this happen.

Airplane food

Food court option (WHO HAS WAFFLES AS A FOOD COURT OPTION?)

Ew raw meat. Ok, it didn't taste so bad, but I felt werewolfish. Maybe raw meat is good, but I am no gourmet, and I like mine at least a little pink.

My much anticipated return to food blogging

I feel like I've used that line before.

Some not so great pictures (that, by the way, looked good on my tiny camera screen) of mostly good food in Xian:

ALL FOR ME

Bear dumplings

Duck dumplings

There were goldfish shaped dumplings, but we all know how I feel about goldfish.

Okay I tried like 6 different things that I thought were funny, but they were so bad so here is something better than my poor attempt at humor:

Nevermind. This is too difficult!

Airport food

I have so many more pictures and it's only day 1, so MEGA POST when I get home.

I totally got yelled at by some lady at a food stand for taking pictures today. All part of the job.

The Met had two delicious deserts AT THE SAME TIME. Good thing I got there exactly at 11:35 before they all disappeared. I accidentally took a bite before remembering to take a picture though. Whoops.
